TMC gets Coconut Farm symbol

Unveiling the symbol to the media, Mr Vasan said the Election Commission has granted ‘coconut farm’ as the symbol to the party for the May 16 Assembly polls.
”Initially, we had the cycle symbol while contesting the 2002 elections.
But since the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh and Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh now have cycle as their symbol, TMC did not get the cycle symbol”, he added.
”As a regional party in another State has a single coconut tree as its symbol, we were allotted the coconut farm symbol that shows four coconut trees,” he said.
Happy at having got the coconut farm symbol, Mr Vasan reasoned that coconut trees represent thriving growth among the common man and farmers.
”Farmers play a big role in the development of our economy and I am happy to have this symbol”, he said.
Mr Vasan announced that his party workers and cadres will launch a state-wide campaign to publicise the new symbol from April two.
On the alliance issue, Mr Vasan said there was still a plenty of time to decide on it.
”We will hold discussions with our party leaders and come out with an official statement on the alliance strategy”, he added.
