The Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) on Saturday condemned the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to raise the height of the check dam across the Palar river.
In a statement, TMC president G.K. Vasan said the Andhra Pradesh government should have taken Tamil Nadu’s permission before moving ahead with construction on the check dam. Calling it unilateral, the TMC called for the Centre’s intervention. For the sake of Tamil Nadu’s drinking water needs, the Centre should deny Andhra Pradesh the permission to raise the height of the check dam, he demanded
