Former Union Minister and Tamil Manila Congress president G.K. Vasan, on Sunday, condemned the remarks made by Union Minster V.K. Singh on the killing of two Dalit children in Haryana and questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue.
In a statement here, he said it had become a habit for Union Ministers to make such controversial statements.
“The Prime Minister should immediately reply to this remark by his Minister. He should decide if Mr. Singh should continue in the Cabinet or not,” Mr. Vasan said. The Central and State governments should initiate all measures to ensure the unity of the nation, he said.
On the atrocity in Haryana, Gen. Singh had said the Central government could not be associated with every incident, and the local administration had to be blamed for it. “If somebody throws a stone at a dog, then the government is responsible, it is not like that,” he added.
