Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) leader G.K. Vasan on Sunday charged that many big schemes in the State had remained static and the ruling government was beset with numerous issues such as Palar, Bhavani, Mullaperiyar and Cauvery river issues.
The TMC had been constantly seeking a free and fair local body polls within specified time. The local body polls should not be deferred any longer, he said.
On the oil spill near the Ennore port, Mr. Vasan said the State and Central government officials besides those from the port and the pollution control board had dealt with the issue in a “careless way” on the first day.
The work should be expedited without any further delay as it also affected the livelihood of fishermen who should be granted compensation, he further said.
