Tamil Maanila Congress leader G.K. Vasan blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam of having betrayed the Tamil Nadu people on the Mullaperiyar dam issue.
Campaigning for Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam candidate V.M. Krishnamurthy here on Tuesday evening, he said that the AIADMK had failed to take timely action on Mullaperiyar issue. The DMK too failed to act on the issue miserably. The Congress and the BJP-led Central governments remained a silent spectator without supporting farmers of Tamil Nadu. “When we form the government, we will negotiate with Kerala, explain the truth and get what farmers deserve to get,” Mr. Vasan said.
“But people of Theni district should teach a fitting lesson to these parties in this election,” he added
Reacting sharply on total prohibition, Mr. Vasan said that the DMK made a historical blunder by removing prohibition. Kamarajar established schools in all villages. But Jayalalithaa opened Tasmac shops in all villages. Liquor sale was a thriving business in BJP and Congress-ruled states. So these parties could not bring total prohibition in the State. They were not deserved to implement it, he said.
People expect integrity, simplicity, purity and transparent administration from politicians. “But how will you expect these qualities from corrupt politicians. Both AIADMK and DMK would not give good governance,” he said.
Both the parties had bought votes for money and adopted tender system to loot the State. Such system should be wiped out of Tamil Nadu.
After five decades, a strong alliance has been formed to defeat the corrupt AIADMK and DMK parties. If voters failed to throw both the Dravidian parties out, no one could change the fate of Tamil Nadu, he added.
